All motorcycles have an optimum air/fuel ratio for producing maximum power and torque. Factors such as emissions regulations, after market exhausts and air filters can alter your motorcycles fuel/air ratio resulting in loss of power and poor or snatchy throttle response.
Our dynojet 250i rolling road can measure power output up to 750bhp and true speeds up to 200 mph enabling us to record your bikes performance through the entire rev range in all gears at the same time monitoring the air/fuel ratio. The dyno enables us to repeatedly test any adjustments we make to your bikes fuelling using a power commander for fuel injected bikes or a jet kit for carburetted motorcycles.

Designing a custom map is a process where we run your motorcycle at each throttle position from 2% through to 100% to record the air/fuel ratio at each position. Using the power commander we can then change the fuel input throughout the rev range for each throttle position to give your bike the optimum fuel/air mix for any given throttle opening and engine rpm which in turn should provide the maximum power and torque.
Well that can depend upon many things but what we can tell you is "The perfect air/fuel ratio will ensure that the engine can produce the maximum possible horsepower for that given combination". We must also understand that a typical street rider spends a great deal of time riding in part throttle conditions. Shown below are two graphs of a motorcycle before and after installation of the Power Commander.
The top graph shows the horsepower curve accelerating at a 40% throttle opening and the lower graph shows the corresponding air / fuel ratio. You can see a large horsepower increase between the two. The red curve shows a typical stock motorcycle with minor performance modifications (slip-on exhaust). The blue curve shows that same combination with the PC installed and you can see that the line is nearly straight. So the rider will feel a large improvement while riding the motorcycle and it is very possible that the peak wide open throttle horsepower is unchanged. The correct air/fuel ratio number (say 12.9:1 or 13.2:1) depends upon many factors like combustion chamber design but what we want is that figure at every point in the curve (straight line).
A full range of jet kits are available for all carb bikes. These come in different stages which vary from 1 to 3 depending on your needs and make/model of bike. Race kits, stage 7 and Thunderslide kits for Harley Davidson and Buell are also available.

Stage 1 kits are intended for motorcycles with a stock engine using the stock airbox, air filter and stock pipe. Stage 1 kits are fully adjustable to allow the use of a well designed aftermarket pipes and stock replacement air filters like K&N. Stage 1 kits are designed to improve throttle response and driveability and in most cases power increases of approximately 5% throughout the entire power range can be achieved.
Stage 2 kits are intended for motorcycles with a stock or mildly tuned engine using a well designed aftermarket pipe with a modified airbox and a stock replacement air filter. Stage 2 kits are designed for applications where individual filters cannot be installed and for applications where airbox modification improves the engine's performance. In most cases power increases of approximately 8% can be achieved.
Stage 3 kits are intended for motorcycles with stock or mildly tuned engines using a well designed aftermarket pipe and individual air filters. In most cases power increases of 10-15% can be achieved. However driveability may be compromised particularly with short stroke, high rpm motors. On some modern engine and airbox designs, individual filters and proper jetting offer no performance improvement yet compromise driveability, in such cases stage 3 kits are not available.
Stage 7 kits are designed for race use only or special applications. With the exception of our stage 7 V-MAX kit, all stage 7 kits are high RPM, race- track use only and are not suitable for street use.
Thunderslide kits for Harley-Davidson and Buell is the new benchmark in jet kit design. It incorporates the first custom-made slide by an aftermarket manufacturer, something no other competitor can claim. The unique configuration allows precise control over the slide's range of movement. The new slide creates a stronger signal, which improves fuel atomisation. This provides more power, increased throttle response and improved fuel economy.
